Major Requirements (30 hours beyond English 121)

  • English 231 or 232, 233 or 234, 320, 495; 12 hours at 300-level or above

Minor Requirements (15 hours not including 121)

  • 3 hours at 300-level or above

Teacher Licensure Requirements

  • Integrated language arts, grades 7-12 (which includes English major).

Writing Track Option

To complete the Writing Track Option, a student must be a declared English major and take 18 hours of the electives below, nine of which must be at the 300-level. None of the courses may be taken on the S/U basis. No more than six hours of credit may be transferred into the Writing Track Option from other institutions.

  • English 201, 202, 207, 306, 315, 316, 319, 390
  • One 300-level English department writing unit (in addition to the University writing unit requirements)

NOTE: Major/minor requirements are in addition to the Liberal Arts Essentials (LAE), which are required of all students to graduate.
