Smith named Division III All-Academic Cross Country
NEW CONCORD, OHIO, March 5, 2013 - The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association has announced that Muskingum University senior cross country runner Tyler Smith has been named NCAA Division III All-Academic.
Smith, a psychology/sociology major, helped lead the Muskingum men to a 10th place finish at the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional Championships, which tied the 1998 Muskie team for the highest-ever finish by any cross country team in school history.
Smith, an All-OAC honoree, also became the first Muskie since 2004 to be named all-region.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or greater through the most-recent semester and placed in the top 35 at the NCAA Regional Championships.
