Ford named All-OAC on opening day of OAC Indoor T&F Championships
NEW CONCORD, OHIO, February 25, 2012 - Muskingum University sophomore Tanisha Ford was named All-Ohio Athletic Conference in the weight throw on the opening day of the OAC Indoor Track & Field Championships to help lead the Muskingum women's team. [2012 Track & Field Picture Day photo gallery]
Ford finished third in the 20-person field with a heave of 50-00.75 to garner All-OAC accolades. She achieved her mark on her last attempt to vault into the top three of the competition.
Also aiding the Muskies on the opening day was freshman Jazmine Mays who ran a school record time of 9.87 in the 60m hurdles to advance to the finals on Saturday.
On Saturday, Ford continued her strong performance at the championships with a seventh place finish in the shot put with a heave of 38-2.25.
Muskingum's 4x200 relay team of freshmen Rebecca Wise, Kevisha Daniely, Emily Laffin and Janelle Shaffer grabbed an eighth place finish with a time of 1:51.07. Shaffer also placed eighth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.27.
Mays ran a time of 9.87 to tie her school record in the finals of the 60-meter hurdles to finish eighth.
Muskingum ended the championships in ninth place in the 10-team field.
Select Muskies will complete at the University of Mount Union Last Chance Meet on Saturday, March 3.
