Muskingum one of only 13 schools in the nation to receive NSCAA Gold Award
NEW CONCORD, OHIO, January 6, 2012 -
The Muskingum University women's soccer team was one of only 13 teams across the nation to be honored by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America with the NSCAA Ethics/Sportsmanship Gold Award for 2011. The Gold Award is regarded as one of the most difficult awards to achieve from the NSCAA.
The Muskies were the only team from Ohio to achieve the Gold Award which spans all across all National Collegiate Athletic Association divisions (NCAA), all National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics divisions (NAIA) and all National Junior College Athletic Association divisions (NJCAA). Muskingum, under the guidance of Head Coach Mary Beth Caudill, who also serves as President of the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association, has been honored with either the Gold or Silver NSCAA Team Ethics/Sportsmanship Award in 11 of the last 14 years.
Muskingum also continued its excellence in the classroom by receiving the distinction of the NSCAA Team Academic Award for the 15th straight year. To receive the award, a team must maintain a 3.0 grade-point-average for the entire academic year.
Muskingum will receive its prestigious awards at the annual NSCAA Convention on January 12 in Kansas City, Missouri.
