Muskingum recognized with prestigious NSCAA awards
NEW CONCORD, OHIO, January 5, 2011 -
The Muskingum University women's soccer team was recognized by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America with the NSCAA Ethics/Sportsmanship Award and Team Academic Award for 2010.
The Muskies were one of only 72 teams across all National Collegiate Athletic Association divisions (NCAA), all National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics divisions (NAIA) and all National Junior College Athletic Association divisions (NJCAA) to garner the prestigious NSCAA Ethics/Sportsmanship Award and the only Ohio Athletic Conference member to receive the Silver Award. Muskingum, under the guidance of Head Coach Mary Beth Caudill, has been honored with either the Gold or Silver NSCAA Team Ethics/Sportsmanship Award in 10 of the last 13 years.
Muskingum continued its excellence in the classroom by receiving the distinction of the Team Academic Award for the 14th straight year. To receive the award, a team must maintain a 3.0 grade-point-average for the entire academic year.
Muskingum will receive its awards at the annual NSCAA Convention in January in Baltimore, Maryland.
