Muskingum to host 2012 OAC Men's Golf Championships
NEW CONCORD, OHIO, April 24, 2012 - Muskingum University will host the
2012 Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Golf Championships on Friday,
April 27-Sunday, April 29 at River Greens Golf Course in West Lafayette, Ohio.
Mount Union won the 2011 OAC Championship with a score of 890. It was the Purple Raiders fourth title in school history and first since 2008. Otterbein placed second with a score of 903, followed by John Carroll (905), Ohio Northern (913), Baldwin-Wallace (916), Muskingum (919), Heidelberg (942) and Capital (949).
The Purple Raiders will defend their title with the help of junior Jon Lieser (Minerva), who tied for eighth place a year ago with a score of 225.
Otterbein claimed the OAC regular season title for the second-straight year and will be led by graduate student Ben Adams (Pataskala/Watkins Memorial), who finished tied for third last year with 220 strokes.
John Carroll will be led by sophomore Alex DiPalma (Wait Hill/Lake Catholic) who earned medalist honors at the OAC Spring Invitational. DiPalma placed fifth at last year’s championship with a score of 223.
The top 10 finishers receive All-OAC honors.
Tee times begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, 9:00 a.m. on
Saturday and 11:00 a.m. on Sunday.
