Baseball starts construction on press box
In November 2011, Muskingum started construction on a state-of-the-art press box for

Spitzer, Hardcastle and VanMeter named All-OAC
NEW CONCORD, OHIO, May 16, 2011 - The Ohio Athletic Conference has announced that the Muskingum University senior trio of outfielder Erik Spitzer, shortstop Tyler Hardcastle and pitcher Nathan Van Meter have been named Second Team All-OAC.
Spitzer led the team in both batting average (.359) and hits (52). He logged 24 runs, 17 RBIs, 12 doubles and was a perfect 13-for-13 in stolen bases. Spitzer recorded a team-best 16 multiple hits games and ended the season with three multiple RBI games. Spitzer, a two-time All-OAC honoree, ends his outstanding career ranked first all-time in career doubles with 52, ranked third all-time in at-bats (565) and hits (203) and ninth in career batting average (.359).
Hardcastle was second on the squad with a .336 batting average and led the team in at-bats (149), home runs (6), doubles (15), runs (28) and slugging percentage (.570). He registered 15 multiple hit games, six multiple RBI games and a team-best 12 game hitting streak during the season. Hardcastle, a two-time all-league selection, ends his stellar career ranked ninth all-time in career doubles with 37.
VanMeter led the pitching staff with a 3.62 ERA with three wins and a team-best 68 strikeouts and four complete games. His 68 strikeouts rank fourth for a single season at Muskingum. VanMeter held opposing hitters to a .236 batting average in 59.2 innings of work. He ends his brilliant career ranked fifth all-time in career strikeouts with 165 and eighth all-time in career ERA (3.03). VanMeter, who led Division III with a 1.30 ERA in 2009, is a two-time all-league honoree.
