Muskingum SAAC announces Fall 2011 Hustle Award winners
NEW CONCORD, OHIO, January 27, 2012 -The Muskingum University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee has announced the 2011 SAAC Fall Sports Hustle Award winners – senior Jacob Morris (men's soccer), sophomore Hanna Rose (volleyball), sophomore Sarah Rose (women's cross country), sophomore John Derov (men's cross country), senior Demetrius Bailey (football) and junior Sara Poling (women's soccer).
Morris was a four-year member of the men’s soccer squad and saw action in four career games throughout his career.
Hanna Rose, a two-year member of the volleyball squad, was second on the team in kills with 214 and logged 206 digs. She played in all 28 Muskingum matches.
Sarah Rose, who is in her first year competing on the cross country team, registered her best time of the season at the Wilmington College Fall Classic when she logged a 23:14.88 on the 5k course.
Derov, who was an NCAA Regional qualifier, helped anchor the men’s cross country team. He finished fifth at the Waynesburg University Invitational and recorded his best time (27:06.99) of the year at the Wilmington College 8k Fall Classic.
Bailey, a four-year member of the football team, ended his senior year with 38 carries for 165 yards and one touchdown. He also added 12 receptions for 241 yards and two scores. Bailey ended the campaign ranked fourth on the team in scoring and total offense.
Poling, a Second Team All-Ohio Athletic Conference honoree, led the league in saves (150) and saves per game (7.9). She ranked sixth in the OAC in shutouts with three and ninth in shutouts per game (0.16). Poling started every game between the pipes and logged 1,554 minutes. Throughout the season, Poling was an OAC Player of the Week nominee.
The Hustle Award is sponsored by the Muskingum Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. The Hustle Award is voted by teammates and goes to athletes who have shown dedication, hard work and commitment to their program. |
