Dr. Zeb Highben

Dr. Zebulon HighbenDr. Zebulon Highben began teaching in Muskingum’s Music Department in the fall of 2012. In addition to teaching classes like conducting and vocal music education, he conducts the Concert Choir, Chamber Singers, Choral Socient and Men’s Chorus.

Dr. Highben, who as an undergraduate attended Ohio State University, said, “I think one of the things that makes Muskingum unique is the tightly knit community here. Large universities—and even many other private liberal arts colleges—don’t have the same sense of closeness that Muskingum does.”

Dr. Highben composes a lot of music – “mostly choral pieces and music for liturgical [worship] use,” he explains. Since 2008 he has published over 40 compositions with five different publishers. He is currently working on two pieces – one for a church in St. Paul, Minnesota, and another for a high school choir in Columbus.
