Tasha Schwenk, '14
Tasha Schwenk, a 2014 graduate of Muskingum who earned her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing, now works at Mount Carmel East on a Cardiac Intermediate Care Unit.
Schwenk says, “Being a part of a four-year nursing program certainly gave me the academic background needed to provide care for my patients.” As part of the nursing program, she participated in on-campus labs, clinical rotations in area hospitals, and precepting, in which she shadowed a Registered Nurse in the field, slowly taking over the RN’s responsibilities as she gained more skill and understanding. Each of these three requirements – labs, clinicals and precepting – prepared Schwenk to give excellent patient care in her current position.
In addition to hard work in the classroom, Schwenk also joined a sorority, Delta Gamma Theta, and was a Resident Assistant (RA). She says, “I didn't expect either of these things going into college, and absolutely loved it! I made amazing friends and met a lot of awesome people.”
