Sam Green, '17
Freshman Sam Green of Lancaster, Ohio, chose Muskingum because the small town atmosphere made him feel at home. He also knew he would be able to get to know his professors and “not just be another number to them.” He added, “I also love the small campus and being able to walk everywhere is just a great feeling and helps save gas!”
Sam plays football and is involved with Cru, a religious life organization on campus.
On the football team, Sam is the starting punter and also plays tight end. “I wanted to continue my football career after high school and Muskingum gave me a great opportunity, so I took advantage of it and am so glad that I did. I have enjoyed the football team and have gained several friends from it and have developed great relationships with my coaches already. I love the sport…and being able to play it for three more years makes me so happy and excited.”
Within Cru, Sam is assuming a role on the leadership team, where he will be working with outreaches and helping to coordinate a prayer meeting. “I have found several new friend through Cru and I have enjoyed being able to grow in my relationship with Jesus Christ throughout my time here so far.”
Sam is thankful for his education class; while just an introductory course, he says he is “learning how to teach and learning the history of education.”
In his first semester as a Muskie, Sam has enjoyed the intersection of his high expectations of college life with his experiences at Muskingum; he has not been disappointed.
Sam advises high school seniors: “Do not pick a college just for its sports if you are an athlete. Pick a college based on what your major is and if you feel you will fit in at the school.”
