Jeremy Whitson, '13

Jeremy Whitson, '13Jeremy Whitson, ’13, graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology and molecular biology. The Clevelander chose Muskingum because he was impressed with the biology faculty and Muskingum’s collaboration with The Wilds.

Immediately following graduation, Whitson began graduate school at Case Western Reserve University, where he is now a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Pathology on the Molecular and Cellular Basis of Disease track. He explains, “Most of my time is spent in the laboratory performing research on the role of the antioxidant glutathione in cataract formation.”

In addition to research, Whitson has worked as a TA and is currently training other TAs. He says the coursework and lab work from his undergraduate days prepared him well for the rigors of Ph.D. work.

Whitson advises recent graduates, “Don't sweat it if you don't end up exactly where you want after graduating. It can take a few years to really get onto a career path that you want to stick with. Just try things out and keep building your resume.”
