Christine Gatton, '06

Christine Gatton, '06Christine Gatton chose Muskingum because she wanted to attend a smaller school that was somewhere different than all of her high school classmates. Her stepbrother was a senior at Muskingum and encouraged her to tour campus. She says, “After my visit and learning that I received […] admission, I couldn’t refuse. I fell in love with the campus and I am so glad I did!”

The 2006 graduate from Alliance, Ohio majored in communication and has worked for The Ohio University Wexner Medical Center since shortly after graduation. Gatton has moved around within the Supply Chain Department, beginning as a Program Assistant to the Chief Supply Chain Officer. After several years, she moved into Accounts Payable as a Procure to Pay Analyst. In 2014, she was promoted to a Medical Center Buyer position and, most recently, Gatton received a promotion to a Contracts Administrator position within Supply Chain Operations.

“Going to a small school encouraged me to meet as many people as I could and make valuable connections,” Gatton says. “I think that I have used those connections to my benefit. I have met so many people who know or knew someone from Muskingum and that is really beneficial in starting new friendships and work connections. I have realized that we truly live in a small world and it is crucial to be nice to everyone and I believe going to a small school like Muskingum helped me value that more than anything.”

Gatton advises students researching colleges, “Please don't dismiss a school because it is small or might not be well known. These are the places that can really help you finish strong academically and help you build a great resume which will really help in the working world. Muskingum really helped me get ready for the life I now lead. I would recommend that you tour Muskingum and give it an honest chance. I can assure you that you will meet the nicest faculty, students and staff around.”
