Chrissy Stragisher, '08
Chrissy Stragisher, ’08, was a Communication major from Mentor, Ohio, who chose Muskingum because she wanted to attend a small, liberal arts school and Muskingum afforded her the opportunity to continue playing basketball.
Stragisher is about to begin her fifth season as the Strength and Conditioning Coach/Coordinator of Video and Basketball Operations for the WNBA’s San Antonio Stars. Stragisher was first connected with the Stars during an internship with the team in 2008, which was facilitated through the Stars’ Head Coach/General Manager and Muskingum alumnus Dan Hughes.
Stragisher speaks of her Muskingum experience: “I'm incredibly thankful for the opportunity I had to grow as a person at Muskingum. At a small school, I was afforded opportunities and responsibilities I wouldn't have gotten at a larger institution. I was able to learn how to lead, how to communicate with my peers and adults, and how to function within a team setting. I learned how to be proficient at lots of little things which has helped me stay in my line of work as long as I have.”
Stragisher advises college seniors beginning their job search to “tell people what it is that you want to do. Ask them who they know that could connect you to what you want to do. Most established people are willing to help but you have to have the courage to ask.”
