Chandrika Misra
Chandrika (r) with her roommate and best friend, Becca, whom she wrote about in her winning essay

Chandrika Misra of New Delhi, India, chose Muskingum in part because her older brother had attended. When she visited for his graduation, “I loved the campus and the fact that it was a small student body because that gives everyone an opportunity to foster relations with faculty, staff as well as other students which may not be possible in bigger colleges.”

Chandrika, who is majoring in economics, accounting, and business, recently won a microscholarhip from International Student Voices magazine based on an essay she wrote about finding friendship in the U.S. Chandrika’s poignant essay can be read here.

On campus, Chandrika is part of the F.A.D. club; Vice-President for Circle K International, a community service organization; part of Lambda Sigma, the sophomore honorary; and was recently accepted into Omnicrom Delta Kappa, the junior/senior honorary. Next year, she will also be the Resident Assistant for the third floor of Memorial Hall.

Chandrika says, “When I started college, I knew that I wanted to be a part of Greek Life; I made the decision to join the sisterhood of FAD and I feel like it has been an experience of a lifetime because I got the chance to form connections with my sisters that I probably would not have if I did not pledge. Just being at Muskingum has made me a  much stronger individual on the whole because being so far away from home was something that i did not know that I was capable of doing, but as each day passes I feel like I am learning more about myself and everything around me.”
