Aaron Wagner, '14
Aaron Wagner, a math major working towards a licensure in AYA (Adolescent and Young Adult) education, found a unique opportunity to put his studies to practical use.
“I found out about my internship through Dr. White, [chair of the Education Department]. She told me all about the internship and encouraged me to apply. I am currently working at Maysville Middle and High school twice per week. I spend my entire day in the classroom working with two different teachers to educate students and to help devise creative ways to help make math fun to learn. I have been working at this school since the beginning of the year and I will be there until the very last day of classes. This has truly been an awesome experience and has made me feel like a part of the school’s staff.”
Aaron, who will graduate this spring, chose Muskingum “for the small class sizes and the home-like atmosphere. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming. I also liked the idea of being able to personally know my professors and not just be a student in the classroom..”
On campus, Aaron is a Resident Assistant of the townhouses and the president of Centerboard. Over the summer he worked on campus as a Muskie Preview leader.
Aaron is thankful for MU’s strong education program and the experiences he has gained from it. Additionally, one of his favorite experiences at Muskingum was working in the Muskie Fellowship program, over the summer of his sophomore year.
