Mission Statement
The computer science curriculum is designed to provide a sound technical education and experience in using computers and networks, as well as the applications and effects of computing systems in today’s global society. It is intended to prepare the student for further study and/or work in the area of computer science. This curricular design aims to provide a foundation for lifelong learning through giving students the background, knowledge, and course work to pursue a variety of interesting career building opportunities both during their time as undergraduates through internship programs and as alumni in business, industry, education and graduate education. The department strives to provide these educational experiences in a personal, friendly environment for a diverse student population of majors from many countries and backgrounds.
The Math and Computer Science Department supports the University’s Mission by
endeavoring to offer a quality academic program with a personalized, friendly
environment of mutual respect. The curricula are designed to be rigorous and
contemporary positioning students to be successful in their chosen fields and
providing them with the academic tools to support life-long learning.
Consideration of the impact of computer technology in today’s global society
fosters student’s development of ethical sensitivity and a commitment to
positive action.
