Muskingum College Advertised Mathematics Position

The Muskingum College Department of Mathematics and Computer Science is seeking candidates for a one year Visiting Professor position starting August 2008. Qualified candidates will have completed a either a masters degree or a doctorate in Mathematics, Mathematics Education or Statistics. The successful candidate will teach a range of undergraduate courses commensurate with his or her background.  Expectations include a dedication to continuous improvement of undergraduate teaching, at least two years of teaching experience at the college-level, and a willingness to assist all students with their mathematical education.

Muskingum College, a comprehensive college with a strong liberal arts tradition, is located seventy miles east of Columbus in the village of New Concord, OH. Founded in 1837, the College today has 100 faculty and a traditional undergraduate enrollment of 1,600. The total undergraduate, graduate, and adult student population is approximately 2,200. About The Department

The Muskingum College Department of Mathematics and Computer Science offers both majors and minors in mathematics and computer science. The department faculty consists of 4 full-time mathematics faculty and 2 full-time computer science faculty. The interests of various members of the mathematics faculty include graph theory, geometry and complex analysis. The students in the department have interests in secondary mathematics education, science, business and industry. The alumni of the department have found employment in different fields, most in teaching mathematics, some have gone into business and industry and some go on to graduate school. The department has a record of  outstanding teaching, in 2005 Dr. David Craft was awarded the colleges award for outstanding teaching and recognized by Ohio Magazine as one of the states top college and university teachers.
